“(The) story was so gripping and alive that I finished it in a single reading - with no breaks!”
Sonalini Chaudhry, Editor, Prakash Books, New Delhi

“(At 5, San Thome) is intriguing and atmospheric…”
Louisa Michel, Literary Agent, Rogers Coleridge & White, London

“Impressive… language is rich in imagery”
Antara Bhattacharjee, Editor, Rupa & Co. New Delhi

“(The) script is lucid…”
Mita Kapur, Literary Consultant, Siyahi, Jaipur

“The author weaves an intricate tapestry of events and memories, tying them together with the threads of loss, hope, and faith.  The result is a compelling narrative that speaks to the turmoil in all of us.  The line between reality and perception blurs.  And when the final truth emerges, you realize it is your very own - what you experience, what you believe in, and ultimately, what you choose to do with it.”
Shanti Kurada, Freelance Writer, Fremont, California

“The many themes in Sarat's book are quite intriguing - they pull you into the book to examine your life more closely... I enjoyed reading this racy book... I fell out of breath while reading it... You go back to the book and look for clues that you can use to fit in your life's dilemmas... I can say that this book is a great one in its genre of writing.”

At 5, San Thome
The execution of a strange will falls into the hands of a young attorney. A single phone call embarks Rachel on a journey - she had no reason to suspect - from which there would be no return.

What starts as an enquiry into a will made by the deceased, unwittingly turns into an investigation into his death. And, from when she crosses that thin red line, their lives become inseparably entwined.

Enmeshed by her feelings for the man, the search becomes a journey of self-discovery for the young woman. And, along the way, Rachel uncovers strange facts and stumbles upon frightening evidence of a crime, but is unable to identify the victim from the perpetrator.

Set in a misty vale in deep woods, surrounded by precipitous hills and restless winds racing down deep escarpments, the search takes Rachel on an emotional rollercoaster that keeps her guessing and hoping and praying, until she is left breathless and alone in a graveyard. At that point of no return, she realizes her search had only begun…

A fast-paced, heart-stopping excursion into a mind, a life, a soul...
Once you embark on this search - be warned, you will never stop!

Love, Hope and Freedom

Be it human, bird or beast, it takes a family to learn to love. And all the words put together cannot sufficiently stress the importance of family.

This is my debut novel and is based on intense personal encounters. Like a shattered mirror, my life threw back a hundred reflections, not all the same. Consequently every character, be it the lead or the supporting, had taken breath from my life’s experiences – experiences as incredible as dreams, and as naked as reality. Strung between the two, the characters spin an elaborate allegory in search of freedom.

In a way it is a tragedy, for something magnificent had been destroyed. But again, like the way I had picked up the pieces, and went on in life, it is of hope, and finding faith in oneself and in truth. A truth variously interpreted as love, or sometimes called God.

I am not a religious person, but writing this book had been a spiritual revelation. Something I wish to share with the world.

I grew up on a seashore, where lush hills slide precipitously into the ocean. Rush waters from the hills, flow as hurrying rivulets emptying into the sea. And, angry hurricanes wreck havoc. This sharply undulating and forested landscape offered the visual backdrop to this tumultuous tale.

With a unique storyline, At 5, San Thome is about finding love, hope and freedom
